The Strautmann Verti-Mix feed mixer, featuring the IMS mixing auger, has been built to suit Australian paddock conditions.

FEATURES OF THE VERTI-MIX MIXER WAGON CONSTRUCTION

• The simple construction is built for strength, long life and low maintenance
• Thick steel plate is used in the critical mixing components for long life
• The ST 52-3 steel gives strength and long wear life
• The base plate is 20mm, the auguer is 15mm and the bowl walls are 8mm thick
• Single axle chassis (VM1251) Tandem axle chassis (VM1651)
• Braking axle with parking brake and hydraulic service brake
• Optional tandem leaf spring suspension reduces shock loads to the chassis when feeding out in the paddock
• The axle has hydraulic brakes and a manually applied parking brake
• Wheel chocks are also included
• PTO shaft with wide angle joint at the tractor end allows PTO operation to continuously turn over the mix while travelling
• Auger drive shaft is fitted with shear bolt protection

MIXING

• The Strautmann auger is stepped along the spiral, lifting and loosening the fodder as it mixes, creating a uniform feed ration without over processing. Tests have showed considerably reduced power consumption with the stepped design.
• The new Intensive Mix System (IMS) has an increased number of steps - smaller and more frequent. The steps now occur every 60 degrees of angle (previously 90 degrees). This accelerates the mixing process while using less power and reducing wear on the auger.
• Strautmann’s patented knife adjustment system means the IMS auger can be adapted to specific feed components that need an increased cutting in the mixing process, such as straw and complete round bales.
• The knives are available in two lengths and their working angle can be set according to need - aggressive cutting action or mixing.
• A mix of knife types and angles can be arranged along the auger flight.
• Additional scraper on auger for even and faster emptying
• Auger fitted with stainless steel anti-wear strips reducing auger loss from moist mixes
• Optional bale cutting knife mounting angles the top knife upwards for faster break up of bales
• The mixing bowls have 2 counter knives
• The counter knife position is manually set, or optionally hydraulically operated
• With counter knives set in the full inward position, this creates increased resistance for the movement of feed material in the bowl, thereby increasing the cutting action of the auger knives.
• Unchopped silage or long straw stubble can be chopped during mixing by using the counter knives
• The auger reduction gearbox is oil filled with external oil reservoirs for easy maintenance, while the top auger bearing is greased
• Mixing over flow ring retains bales as they are being broken down

FEEDOUT

• Multiple discharge door options: Front and rear; left and right
• Front right hand discharge door standard onto 1240mm long conveyor with adjustable belt speed
• Optional front or rear cross conveyor

CONTROLS

• The cabin mounted control box for the electro-hydraulic system controls 3 functions: door open-close; conveyor raise-lower; and conveyor speed
• Topcon/ EZ2810 Digi-Star
• Easy to use with large display
• Preset weight function provides improved loading and unloading management

LONG CONVEYOR

• Optional 3.5 metre long conveyor with hood for filling of 8 foot high self-feeder bins
• The long conveyor can be operated from the horizontal position (for conventional troughs or ground feed-out) to maximum height for self-feeders
• The long conveyor PVC conveyor belt has large horizontal cleats and scalloped surface to efficiently convey grain mixes
• Independent safety-locking hooks secure the long conveyor in transport position
• Conveyor operation is integrated with the electro-hydraulic controls
• Steel hydraulic lines are used extensively for durability
• 1.8m long conveyor is also available in lieu of standard

OPTIONS

• Hydraulically driven roller mill can be mounted on top of the mixing bowl. Grain can then be milled as it is aded to the mixer
• Rare earth magnets mounted to the auger capture and hold inadvertent metal in the feed materials, protecting animal health and reducing injury
